Sagepoint acquires 60 Cummins-powered RNG trucks to deliver fully integrated, sustainable logistics

April 17, 2026. In a move that signals a paradigm shift for the energy and logistics markets, Sagepoint Energy and its subsidiary, Sagepoint Logistics, announced the acquisition of 60 heavy-duty Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Freightliner trucks powered by the Cummins X15N™ engine. This strategic investment marks a significant leap forward in the company’s mission to propel the circular economy by aggressively expanding its footprint in the for-hire dedicated carrier market.

With Sagepoint’s integrated model, shippers no longer have to choose between environmental stewardship and cost-efficiency.

By leveraging the synergies between Sagepoint Energy, one of the nation’s leading RNG producers, and Sagepoint Logistics, the Midwest’s premier green fleet, the company controls variables that traditional carriers cannot: core shipping costs, volatile fuel surcharges, and Scope 3 emissions. The fleet will be powered entirely by RNG sourced directly from Sagepoint Energy’s production facilities. This infrastructure enables customers to significantly lower their carbon footprint by utilizing a turnkey, sustainable shipping solution. Sagepoint’s fuel is 100% domestic, creating independence from global oil market volatility. This self-sufficiency allows the company to offer a pricing structure that no other carrier can match—a distinct advantage in the North American market.

“This investment is a pivotal step in our evolution,” said Aaron Johnson, CEO of Sagepoint Energy. “We aren’t just acquiring trucks; we are establishing a new model for doing business in both the energy and heavy-duty trucking markets. By pairing the most advanced engine technology in the world with our own RNG production, Sagepoint is achieving a level of vertical integration that provides our partners with unmatched reliability and environmental stewardship at a low and predictable cost. This is a defining moment for our company and a clear signal to the industry that high-performance logistics and fuel independence are now a reality.”

The Cummins X15N is the industry’s first 15-liter natural gas engine purpose-built for heavy-duty and long-haul applications. It delivers the torque and reliability required for demanding operations while providing a practical path to reducing environmental impact and operational costs.

“Sagepoint’s investment reflects exactly what the Cummins X15N was designed to deliver—heavy-duty natural gas performance you would expect from diesel, without compromise,” said Mark Jamieson – Director – New Products Pull Business Development at Cummins Inc. “Their decision to deploy the X15N in demanding operations underscores the confidence fleets can have in a platform built to integrate seamlessly into existing duty cycles while unlocking the advantages of lower fuel costs and emissions reductions.”

The fleet expansion is being spearheaded by Curt Reitz, Vice President of Logistics, who joined Sagepoint in January 2026. A veteran with over 30 years in the sector, Reitz has a storied track record of scaling 100% CNG-powered fleets.
