Daimler Truck North America to showcase latest innovations for Canadian customers at Truck World 2026

April 5, 2026. Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) will showcase its latest advancements in commercial vehicle technology at Truck World April 16-18, 2026, in Toronto, with a lineup of Freightliner and Western Star trucks and Detroit powertrain technologies.

A key focus of DTNA’s presence at the show will be the Detroit Gen 6 heavy-duty diesel engines, giving Canadian audiences their first in-person look at the next generation of powertrain technology up close. Designed to deliver reliable performance across real-world Canadian operations – from efficient, long-haul runs on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) to durability in the Athabasca oil sands of northern Alberta and all provinces in between – Detroit’s Gen 6 engines build on more than two decades of a proven platform. Updates for the engine include an advanced combustion strategy, reduced parasitic power losses, and increased torque ratings to support downspeed performance for on-highway applications. A familiar aftertreatment system employs known and trusted technology designed to operate reliably in cold-weather environments, and for vocational customers, helps simplify integration with no impact on back-of-cab space.

“Truck World provides a valuable opportunity to connect directly with Canadian customers, hear their feedback, and share the innovations shaping the future of both Daimler Truck North America and our industry,” said Greg Treinen, Vice President On-Highway Market Development, Daimler Truck North America. “Every truck, engine, and solution we bring forward is guided by real-world customer needs, and we look forward to serving the Canadian market with proven platforms that deliver uptime and long-term value.”

At the booth, DTNA will present a range of vehicles and services designed for the unique and demanding environments in which Canadian fleets operate. For heavy-haul applications such as logging in British Columbia, a Western Star 49X Power Hood tractor will be on display. For urban construction applications, DTNA will showcase a Freightliner 114SD Plus with a dump body. The all-new Fifth Generation Freightliner Cascadia will also be part of the display and supports both local pickup and delivery and cost-to-coast, over-the-road transportation.

As one of its newest offerings, DTNA will highlight the exterior camera system for the Western Star 49X and Freightliner 114SD, giving attendees a closer look at how the system supports improved visibility at the job site, or on the way there. Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in a ride-and-drive experience featuring a natural gas-powered Fifth Generation Freightliner Cascadia equipped with the Cummins X15N engine. In addition, a Custom Hardware and Electronics Configurator (CHEC) demonstration on the Western Star 49X will allow attendees to experience DTNA’s advanced technology for tapping existing electrical architecture for the seamless and expedient upfitting of vocational trucks.
