FCC Environmental Services initiates operations with CNG trucks for Hillsborough County

February 5, 2022. FCC Environmental Services began on January 31 to provide residential and commercial solid waste collection services in Hillsborough County, Florida. The contract covers the Tampa metropolitan area, the largest area in the county, and represents a portfolio of 380 million dollars for the next eight years, extendable for another four.

In order to serve the more than 350,000 inhabitants of the awarded area and the commercial collection service, it has a fleet of 96 trucks powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) and a workforce of more than 150 people.

FCC Environmental Services has built new fixed facilities from which the service will be offered, including a state-of-the-art natural gas refueling station, a maintenance building and various administrative and staff buildings.

The contract was awarded at the beginning of June 2021 and once again FCC Environmental Services demonstrates its great power as a service company, being able to successfully start operations of one of its largest contracts in the United States on time, despite the major delays that exist globally in the supply chain. The company thus reinforces its presence in the state of Florida since, with this award, the US subsidiary will serve more than one and a half million inhabitants in the state.
