Natural gas distribution firm UGI Corporation’s subsidiary, UGI Energy Services, has acquired Houston-based renewable natural gas company firm GHI Energy.
GHI is a marketer of renewable natural gas in California. It is primarily focused on providing vehicle fleets with renewable natural gas by coordinating supply from various sources across the US.
UGI Energy Services’ energy commodity marketing expertise will enable it to expand GHI’s marketing, supply and logistics, as well as project expertise into other regions of the country.
GHI co-founder John Greene said: “This transaction represents a major strategic opportunity that provides us with incredible resources from an industry leading energy marketing brand to both grow the company and continue to enhance the excellent customer service that we are known for, both to our existing customer base in California and to future customers in other regions.”
Furthermore, UGI’s investment in GHI will allow it to strengthen its existing greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction strategies.
UGI Natural Gas executive vice-president Robert F Beard said: “For over 135 years, UGI has focused on providing safe, reliable service to its customers and to the many communities it serves.
“Adding GHI to our portfolio allows UGI the opportunity to continue growing in an environmentally responsible way, as well as enhance and expand our commitment to offer energy solutions that are innovative, efficient and beneficial to the environment.”
