Natural Gas Vehicle Institute, North America’s leading training provider for the natural gas vehicle industry, announced its 2020 public training and certification schedule. The schedule provides multiple training events offered at different locations throughout the country. The kickoff event, CNG Fuel System Inspector Training, along with certification exam, will be held February 4-7, 2020 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Registration is now open.

“Every technician working on or around natural gas vehicles, whether they are responsible for routine maintenance or CNG fuel system inspections, must have crucial skills and knowledge to perform their duties,” said Leo Thomason, Executive Director of NGVi. “We are proud to offer technician training that combines it all: comprehensive and newly-updated curriculum, hands-on exercises featuring real-life scenarios plus the expertise of highly-skilled instructors who have extensive NGV backgrounds. Our ultimate goal is to prepare our students to be fully qualified to perform their jobs,” he added.

NGVi is the only ASE-accredited training provider in the alternative fuels industry, which means that its class training materials, training techniques, student assessment methods, validity of the curriculum and material, administrative processes, and instructor qualifications undergo a rigorous and extensive review by Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC), the accrediting organization that establishes and promotes quality standards for training entities of automotive technicians.

The 2020 NGVi public training courses include: Level 1: NGV Essentials and Safety Practices, designed for every technician working on or around NGVs, Level 2: CNG Fuel System Inspector Training, designed for technicians who will perform federally mandated CNG fuel system inspections, and Level 3: HeavyDuty NGV Maintenance and Diagnostics Training, designed for technicians who will perform diagnostics and repair to either the CNG fuel system or the engine. In addition to training, technicians have the opportunity to take the live-proctored CNG Fuel System Inspector Certification Exam which allows them to become NGVi-certified CNG Fuel System Inspectors.
