Landi launches the new mechatronic hydrogen pressure regulator

March 20, 2024. Landi Renzo, the global leader in sustainable ecomobilityTM, has launched the development of advanced electronic pressure regulators for mid- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles with hydrogen-powered ICE’s. This marks a big step towards the energy transition and decarbonization of the mobility and transportation sector.

The project is further widening the collaboration with the Germany company, Bosch, that is one of the leading automotive suppliers worldwide.

The zero-emission fueled engines of the future require pressure regulators that are not only robust and reliable, but add performance characteristics which were previously unpredictable.

Two phases govern the functionality of the EM-H regulator: A mechanical input stage that reduces pressure from high to medium; and a subsequent entirely electronic state which lowers pressure from medium to the desired value. The system features special valves to ensure protection of both the pressure regulator and downstream fuel line.

Thanks to design innovation, the hydrogen-compatible EM-H is able to provide ideal pressure for the injectors at every operating speed and load, thus optimizing combustion for future high-pressure injection systems. To ensure the highest level of safety, the new pressure regulator is a completely sealed product.

“We are excited about the future of this Mechatronic Hydrogen regulator. Landi designs and manufacturers many different products for the zero-emission market and this is no exception. We believe the EM-H regulator will demonstrate the performance, reliability and safety necessary to support an array of eco-mobility platforms,” said Andrea Landi, President, Landi USA.
