October 19, 2025. The Disney Cruise Line officially received its liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered cruise ship, Disney Destiny, from German Shipbuilder Meyer Werft. The handover ceremony took place as scheduled on 15th October at Eemshaven, the Netherlands.
Sailing under the flag of Panama, the Disney Destiny measures 340 meters in length and boasts a gross tonnage of 144,000 GT. It is the sixth cruise ship built for the company by Meyer Werft, underscoring the shipyard’s long-standing collaboration with the company.
The partnership between the two companies began with the delivery of the Disney Dream in 2010, and the Disney Fantasy in 2012, followed by the Disney Wish in 2022, the first ship in the Wish class. A sister vessel is currently under construction at Meyer Werft’s Papenburg shipyard and is scheduled for delivery in autumn 2027.
Disney Destiny can accommodate 4.000 passengers and features modern amenities and advanced technologies designed to enhance operational efficiency and guest comfort. The vessel is equipped with LNG propulsion, which significantly reduces carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxide (NOx), and sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions. The cruise ship is scheduled to begin its maiden voyage by November.
